Happy Easter

Its here again…that Easter Sunday holiday! A time when many of us will celebrate religious practices, re-new areas of our life and spend quality time with friends and family.

A day when people attend church although they haven’t been in years. It’s a day to wear your Sunday best, adorn hats of all shapes and sizes painted in pastel colors and of course we have an abundance of kids, candy and that bunny. Yet, Easter would not be the same without the infamous, colorful Easter egg.

EASTER-NUBBY-AND-BABY--650

However, this article is not about the Easter egg. Nope, it’s about YOUR Eggs!

By now, if you’re a woman over 40, wanting to get pregnant you’ve either read articles about why your eggs are older the Old Testament and why you need to give up the notion of using them to birth your child. Or you’ve been trying to get pregnant without any success thus far. Don’t give up! There’s hope for you my friend.

I was 46 years young before I realistically and consciously chose the thought of having a baby. The desire hit me by my 39th birthday, but like so many of you I’d spent at least 7 years believing all the conversations, statistics and stories as to why I wasn’t a viable candidate. After all, at 19 I had a myomectomy (removal of my left ovary) and was told that my remaining ovary would work overtime ovulating every month until it ran out of eggs. Then several years later, I was diagnosed as having multiple fibroids. So, I did like so many other women…I threw myself into work, trying not to think about the statistics, silently hoping that if a husband showed up that all these issues would suddenly work themselves out. Around my 40th birthday, I vaguely remember someone suggesting that I freeze my eggs, but honestly at the time, I thought only rich, white women did that. Since I wasn’t either rich or white, I did like many other women; I buried myself into work silently praying when the time was right that again things would work it out. By the time I was 45, I was depressed, peril-menopausal, slightly suicidal and suffering in silence. I share all this with you, not to air my dirty laundry, but to let you know that you are not alone!

4 Scary Debilitating “EGG” Statistics

Here’s just a few statistics that have stopped many potential mothers from following their dream of motherhood. Heidi Hayes at the Donor Egg Bank USA, shares common myths about pregnancy in your 40’s:

1. Pregnancy is Easy in your 40’s.

Ms. Hayes is quoted writing, “once you hit 40, there’s only a 5% chance you will get pregnant in any given month (compared to 20% at age 30). Pregnancy is possible, but women need to know the most valuable and irreversible factor impacting success is time. This is largely due to a steady decline in egg quality that begins when a woman is in her early 30’s and accelerates in the late 30s.”

2. Fertility issues are always with the woman.

“For couples with a female partner in her late 30s or 40s, the chance of infertility due to egg quality rises dramatically.”

3. You can only have a baby using your eggs.

“According to the respected medical journal, “Fertility and Sterility’” 40 year-old women treated for infertility have a 25 percent chance of achieving pregnancy using their own eggs. By age 43 that number drops to 10 percent and by 44 it becomes 1.6 percent. However, …using donor eggs give a birth rate of roughly 45 percent, a success rate higher than younger women using their own eggs.”

4. I’m starting Menopause, I can’t have a baby

“The quality of a woman’s eggs during this time is significantly reduced and the chances of conceiving decline sharply. The chance of a miscarriage, for those who do conceive, is significantly increased.” “…Abnormalities such as Down Syndrome typically occur due to a decrease in the quality of the egg with aging. The chance is 1 in 30 in a 44-year old using her own eggs.

The Incredible Edible Egg

The good news is you are living in an era where modern technology and holistic medicine are on your side. Homeo-pathetic Medicine, Acupuncture, Meditation, New Thought Consciousness and Yoga, to name a few, are just a few modalities available to a woman desiring her baby post 40. Your eggs are strong and vibrant! Think about it. It takes only one large egg to be penetrated by hundreds of tiny sperm. That egg is filled with DNA and chromosomes just waiting to create a magnificent being called your child. Yes! Eggs are growing old just as the cells in every part of our body are aging, dying and then re-newing themselves. Yet, it is imperative that you believe your mind creates your reality. It is your thoughts (not your doctors, family, spouse, or friends) that are creating the present condition of your body and thus the condition of your eggs. Breathe!

Do you believe you are too old? Is that what’s stopping you from obtaining your dream. Do you put more value in what doctors say about your body rather than believing what YOU KNOW TO BE THE TRUTH about your body? Have you allowed the diagnosis of Endometriosis, Fibroids, an aborted child, or peri-menopause to stop you from calling your baby forth? If so, I invite you to STOP IT! Make a conscious choice today to change your thoughts.

Let me take a moment to remind you that YOU ARE INCREDIBLE! There fore, by default YOUR eggs are incredible as well. They carry your lineage, your legacy and life itself.

So What Can I do About This?

You can begin attracting your baby into your life by first quieting your mind. Give yourself the gift of deep breathing, meditation and ask your unborn child, “How can I assist in bringing you into this world?” “What do I need to do (or who do I need to become) in order to create a safe space for you to enter through me?

Then, your only job is to listen for the answers. The rest will be given to you. You can journal this, record it and follow your inner guides. They are here to assist you.

Only you can derail your good, no one else. You do so either by giving your power away or by giving up on your dreams. If you find yourself not making the time to be still, it may be your way of procrastinating or feeling unworthy of actually manifesting what you say you really want. Stop giving your power away and use this holiday to re-new your mind, re-vitalize your dream of motherhood and re-create your life.

Your Meditative Thought this week:

I am healthy, vibrant and ready to manifest my baby!”

Much love and joy to YOU!
